Olá! I’m Kat(ie).
I’m a combat sports and gym photographer who chases presence before perfection and performance. I am the person behind the lens of Kat’s Tripod. I live in Central Queensland, but I have a national and international stage for my photography experience—with my waltz from gyms in Australia to Latin America.
But more about me...
I was born in Rockhampton. I’ve lived here my whole life but I have a sense of wanderlust. It’s taken me to China, to Singapore, the UK and Brazil. I enjoy going beyond boundaries, to see more—to learn culture.
I am deaf and autistic with love for what is real. It is what lingers behind my fingers clicking the button, to capture your legacy. I invite truth, to capture you just as you are. I come from a background of journalism which has an influence upon my work. I deny speculation, and just the highlights. The process matters too.
My photography journey began four years ago—I picked up my camera to see my friends, wicked cool in their training of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It spiralled from there, as I fell in love with seeking truth. My background of being embedded in the community of a gym, is also my why. It saved my life by giving me hope.
What is my why?
My why is tell the stories of those who brave enough to challenge their own bodies.
I am also a keen gym-goer, getting the reps in week and week out—and in the past I’ve done Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, so I understand technique.
It sways my work as I too, have discipline born from martial arts. It taught me to get up again, to keep trying even quietly with details and celebrating no matter how big or small the wins are.
It is about legacy and giving back to this community that saved me.
I’ve captured fight nights, competitions to training and there will be more to come. My goal is to show you the strength of your own will, and how the process matters too.
Skip to the good part. Why Choose me for your Photography?
Passionate does not begin to describe it. I want to see you succeed or learn, to see how beautifully badass you are when in those embroiled moments of flying fists, kicks or being an absolute baddie striking a pose in your second home: forged in metal, sweat and a good kind of exhaustion. I want you to see your growth over time, and see the spoils of your victory and discipline.
I want to be a part of the journey.
